Italian bassist, composer, producer and
alumnus of the London Bass Guitar Show,
Lorenzo Feliciati. is about to release a concept
album in June called
Ko
i,
an ambient music
and prog-rock project featuring heavyweight
guests such as Japan drummer Steve Jansen
and King Crimson sticksman Pat Mastelotto.
As you might guess from the album’s title,
Feliciati's theme on the new album is piscine
in nature, specifically in relation to the river
carp. "The Japanese recognised these fish not
just for their beauty, but for their ability to
induce otherworldly states of perception in
the observer,” says the press release, although
Feliciati's mesmerising fretted and fretless
bass playing may result in the same effect in
our case. The album includes a composition
called Margata'. a homage to Jaco Pastorius.
and a fuzz bass workout on a Frank Zappa-
influencecl piece called 'Fish Bowl'. We
wonder what scales he uses. Ho ho!
