HI, SILVIA
■ The hottest discussion topics. These often develop from unlikely
triggers on threads that you would have thought could only extend to
four or five posts!
■ Recurring questions about life as a bass player. These could concern
rehearsals, motivation to keep playing and improving, dealing with
managers and venues, and why the bass player is always the only well
organised member of the band.
..
■ Our members' musical efforts, from the point of view both of original
recorded material and of live gigging at all levels, but especially grassroots
“ BASSCHAT IS
DIVIDED
INTO
SEVERAL
SUBFORUMS, MANY OF WHICH
CATER
TO
SPECIFIC INTERESTS”
Basschat is divided into several subforums, many of which cater to
specific interests: Bass Guitars for advice, information and help about
electric basses, or for showing off your new purchases: EUB and Double
Basses for doing the same, but on a longer scale: Amps and Cabs and
Effects for help with creating The Rig' which will finally give you 'Your
Sound’, and for showing it off when you finally achieve it: Repairs and
Technical for when the above goes wrong, or you feel your quest isn’t
over just yet: Gear Porn and the inspiring (and occasionally unsettling)
Build Diaries: and the performance-related areas Recording and Gigs,
where you can invite others to listen to your original music and show
what you look like while playing it live.
If you've ditched your band and are looking to join another, or
form a new one, you can post in Musicians Wanted. The site also
has a more generic subforum. General Discussion, for talking about
music-related topics that don’t refer specifically to bass. That area
tends to throw up some veritable gems among its threads - watch
this space.
Signing up to the website, and use of all the discussion forums, is free.
We also have a large section dedicated to selling and trading second
hand gear, the Marketplace, which is free to browse and buy from, but
requires payment of a fee to place adverts.
Although most Basschat members are based in the UK, especially
in England and in the South East, we also have a growing number
of Basschatters in the rest of Europe and across the Atlantic, so if
you're reading this outside the UK, don't feel you're an outsider
you
certainly aren't, and you’re equally welcome. See you there, and on
this page next month! M
